A “suspicious” targeted death in the city’s northeast on Sunday is under investigation, according to Calgary police.

Officers say they responded to calls about a man in distress at the Emerald Hotel and Suites on 2750 Sunridge Boulevard just after 11 p.m. Sunday.

When they arrived, police swarmed the building, saying a man was found dead inside, calling it “suspicious.”

One person is in custody. Meanwhile, officers add that the early stages of their investigation suggest it was a targeted incident with no further threats to the public.

An autopsy is expected on May 19.

Police ask anyone, including any witnesses, with information about this incident to call them at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
