New charge laid in connection to ‘senseless’ 2025 killing of young woman

Calgary Police have charged a woman with trafficking a gun that was used in the homicide of Madisson Cobb last summer.

Police have laid a new charge against a Calgary woman after linking her to the gun used in the 2025 domestic killing of a young woman.

Madisson Cobb, 23, was shot in the parkade at the Shops at Heritage in southwest Calgary on July 19, 2025, and died at the scene.

Two days later, officers arrested Devon Bradley Malik, 27, and charged him with first‑degree murder.

Investigators confirmed that Malik and Cobb were in a relationship that ended in early 2025. Cobb reportedly got a restraining order against Malik in June and outlined to the court in an affidavit that she believed he had a gun.

Police later recovered the firearm used in the shooting, but its serial number had been removed, prompting a separate investigation.

That investigation led to a Feb. 3 search warrant, where officers seized seven guns, air guns, and ammunition. Gordon Kesh Cameron, 44, was charged with firearms trafficking, failing to report lost or stolen firearms, and possessing prohibited devices.

Investigators eventually identified a second suspect who was alleged to have arranged the sale of the gun Malik is accused of using.

On Wednesday, police arrested Reanna Mader, 38, and charged her with one count of firearms trafficking. She was released and is scheduled to appear in court in July.

“Madisson’s death was senseless,” reads a statement from CPS Staff Sgt. Mike Shute. “This investigation demonstrates that we will thoroughly investigate anyone who plays a role in gun violence in Calgary, regardless of who pulled the trigger.”
