Man arrested after Downtown Calgary stabbing

A man is in custody after a stabbing in downtown Calgary on Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called to the area of 7 Avenue and 4 Street SE around 2:50 p.m. for reports of an assault

Officers arrived to find a man in his 20s suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to hospital in serious condition and later upgraded to stable.

Investigators say the suspect ran from the scene but was identified and arrested a short time later.

Police believe the two men knew each other before the incident.

Tyree Jordan Alexander, 26, is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a dangerous weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
