Calgary police are asking anyone who thinks they may have been caught in a vehicle‑resale scam to come forward as they look for the suspect believed to be responsible.

Calgary police investigators began looking into claims that the mileage on a vehicle had been changed before it was sold to an unsuspecting buyer in March 2026.

In that case, someone bought a 2012 Honda CR‑V advertised on Facebook Marketplace.

Police say the seller gave the buyer a Carfax report showing the vehicle had about 169,000 kilometres. The buyer obtained a new Carfax report after the sale and learned the vehicle’s last recorded mileage was actually more than 316,000 kilometres.

The buyer also found out the insurance documents provided during the sale were not valid.

Police believe a suspect bought high‑mileage vehicles, altered the records, and resold them while misrepresenting their condition and value.

Investigators identified a man who they believe used the name “Zybszek Zebrowski” while selling the vehicle. Evidence linked the suspect to a home on Creekstone Drive SW in the community of Pine Creek.

Officers executed a search warrant on June 20 and seized fake ID documents, completed bills of sale, cash, and various vehicle‑sale paperwork.

Police have now issued a warrant for 27‑year‑old Ivan Kamyshanskyi for fraud over $5,000, false pretence over $5,000, and uttering a forged document (two counts).

Anyone who knows where the suspect is, or believes they may have been victimized, is asked to call police at 403‑266‑1234. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers.
