Victim of NW Calgary fatal assault identified: police

The victim of a fatal assault in the city’s Capitol Hill area on Thursday has been identified, Calgary police say.

Officers say they were called to the 1300 block of 20 Avenue NW just before 5 p.m. on July 2 on reports of a weapon assault.

When they arrived, police say a man was found suffering from a life-threatening condition — dying later in hospital.

An autopsy Friday revealed the man to be 23-year-old Dale Weasel Head.

One person taken in by police has since been released.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call them at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
