A Calgary 911 dispatcher has been charged after police say she shared confidential information with someone who was not authorized to receive it.
Calgary police started investigating in January 2026 after learning that private details from emergency calls were being viewed and passed outside official channels.
Investigators believe that between July 2023 and January 2024, a dispatcher used her position to look up sensitive information and send it to another person.
Officers executed a search warrant and seized electronic devices on March 31 of this year. Police say they found screenshots of real Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) events, dispatcher messages, and personal information about people involved in emergency incidents.
The information included names, phone numbers, addresses, and details from police and emergency calls. The screenshots were confirmed to match actual 911 and Calgary police records.
Jessica Lynn Nelson, 43, has been charged with breach of trust by a public officer. She is scheduled to appear in court in August.
Police say no other 911 employees were involved.
