Police aiming to identify suspect in hit and run case

Authorities are appealing for the public’s help in tracking down the driver of a vehicle that struck a man riding a rental scooter in southern Alberta.
Police say a 26-year-old man was westbound on Fifth Ave. S in Lethbridge when he attempted to cross 13 St. S and was struck by a northbound Pontiac Grand Am July 18th. Police responded at approximately 9:46 a.m.
“The driver of the Grand Am initially stopped, walked over to the scooter and removed it from the roadway before getting back into his vehicle and (allegedly) driving away,” a Lethbridge police news release states.
Police are looking for a short, elderly, Caucasian male with grey hair and a hunched back who was wearing a t-shirt and jeans.
Police have released an image of the vehicle, which is believed to be an early 2000s model; tan or grey Pontiac Grand Am with existing damage to the driver’s side rear bumper and new damage from the collision to the passenger side front headlight area.
