Parks Canada says Calgary man dead after slipping and falling on popular hike

A 65-year-old Calgary man is dead following a fall on the Mount Temple scrambling route in Banff National Park last weekend.
Parks Canada says visitor safety specialists responded to a report after the man slipped and fell.
He had been hiking with a group of people last Saturday who were able to call for help.
Parks Canada says staff arrived at the site via helicopter and deployed a heli-sling to lift him to a staging area.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Mount Temple scramble is a challenging, moderate alpine route featuring more than 1,700 metres of elevation gain, steep loose scree, and an exposed rock crux.
“Parks Canada would like to express their condolences to the family for this loss,” said Justin Brisbane, public relations and communications officer for Lake Louise, Yoho and Kootenay Field Unit.
