Calgary home searched, two people charged in large drug bust

Two people are facing charges and a large amount of suspected illicit drugs have been seized after police raids at two homes, one of them in Calgary the other in Cochrane.
Cochrane RCMP say they began an investigation into drug trafficking activity in Cochrane last May.
Police followed up with simultaneous raids at a home in the Calgary neighborhood of Rockyledge View and Heritage Hills in Cochrane on July 30.
More than a kilogram of suspected cocaine was seized by RCMP, along with about 340 grams of suspected fentanyl, $22,000 in Canadian and foreign currency. Police say they also found two baton tasers, which are prohibited weapons.
“This investigation demonstrates our continued commitment to disrupting the trafficking of dangerous drugs within our community,” Cochrane RCMP Staff Sgt. and acting detachment commander Chad Fournier states in a news release, “The quantities of drugs seized during this investigation had the potential to cause significant harm.”
Cochrane residents Mansour Askari-Sobi, aged 37, and Chelsea Oshier, aged 36, face charges including Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking “along with additional offences under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act”.
The pair of suspects have been released on bail with conditions. They are scheduled to appear in court August 11.
