Mother testifies at murder trial of alleged Calgary child killer

A very composed Ying Tang recounted the horrifying events of November 27th, 2009 before a Calgary courtroom.

On that day her estranged husband James Bing Jun Louie allegedly killed their two children, 9-year-old Jane and 13-year-old Jason, and tried to kill her as well.

Tang told court she had a bad feeling after failing to make contact with her kids earlier in the day.

During one cellphone conversation with Louie, Tang asked him “Did you harm them? Did you kill them?”

Louie replied “They are in my heart, you come home and see.”

Tang says at that point she called 911 and begged the dispatcher to send police to the home.

She says after she got to the house, she raced upstairs to her daughter’s bedroom.

“I thought she was sleeping.  I could see under the light she was all purple.”

Tang says she touched her daughter’s face and it was already cold.

At that point, Louie appeared with a yellow rope in his hand.

Tang says she yelled “What did you do? What did you do?”

Louie placed the rope around her neck and started to tighten it.

During the struggle, she managed to place another 911 call.

Police arrived minutes later and pulled Louie off of her.

She says she wanted to find her son, but didn’t have the strength.

His body was found on a couch in the basement.

Tang is scheduled to be back on the witness stand again Friday.
