Calgary Transit to switch to electronic passes

Paper transit tickets are going to be a thing of the past.
The city says they’re moving to electronic swipe cards for bus and LRT users by next summer.
Montreal, London, and Hong Kong have already introduced so-called transit “smart cards.”
Transit riders will be able to buy prepaid or reloadable fare cards and renew them online.
Users will swipe them every time they board a bus or train.
Calgary Transit will still accept cash after these new smart cards are ushered in next year.
