Falconridge Co-op evacuated

Fire officials ordered the evacuation of a northeast Calgary grocery store Saturday night because of a leaking propane tank.
About 50 people were forced to leave the Falconridge Co-op store and gas bar just after 9:00 p.m.
When fire crews arrived, they found the propane free-flowing from the connection between a barbecue tank and the tank at the gas station.
Fire department Battalion Chief Don Huska tells 660News, one Co-op employee was slightly injured after suffering frostbite from the leak.
“Propane is stored in a cylinder under pressure and it’s in a liquefied form at minus 42 degrees Celsius,” says Huska.
A HazMat crew was called in and managed to secure the leak after about 20 minutes.
The propane facility at the station is still closed until it can be declared safe.
