Home-based tattoo shops shut down

Alberta Health Services has shut down seven home-based tattoo parlours in the province.
The businesses were closed because they were not licensed.
CTV reports if proper sterilization procedures aren’t followed, there is a risk of picking up a blood-borne disease like Hepatitis or HIV.
AHS is advising anyone who got a tattoo or piercing at a home-based business to get tested.
Hepatitis B is the most serious threat and can be passed from client to client by un-sterilized needles.
