A 26-year-old Calgary man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for committing what a judge has called a “horrific” sexual assault.
In November of 2008 Jonathon George Burrows sent texts to his former girlfriend saying he was in Yellowknife and was going to kill himself.
It was later revealed Burrows was actually inside the woman’s northeast condo.
He managed to knock her unconscious after placing a cloth with a toxic solvent over her face and that’s when he seriously sexually assaulted the woman.
Burrows will be prohibited from owning or possessing any firearms for 15 years and will have to be registered as a sex offender when he is released.
