Image makeover paying off for Calgary Parking Authority

Calgary still has some of the highest parking rates in the country, but complaints are on the decline.
The local parking authority reports in the past few months, customer complaints have dropped by almost 40 per cent from close to 500 complaints a month down to just over 300.
The acting general manager of the Calgary Parking Authority tells The Calgary Sun since he took over several months ago, he has stressed with his staff that customer service is vital.
A number of new initiatives have been launched, ranging from music and improved lighting in parkades to real time parking information on the web and expanded tire and battery boosting services.
The parking authority has also announced it will offer free overnight parking to drivers who need to get their vehicles off the road, when 72-hour parking bans are put into place during snowstorms.
The CPA is also rolling out a new $5 Friday parking deal.
Ward 3 Alderman Jim Stevenson is among those expressing happiness that parking complaints are on the decline.
Stevenson tells 660News, instead of being reactionary, the parking authority has become proactive and drivers are noticing.
