Community still fighting against too-tall condo tower

The Inglewood Community Association continues to fight a proposed condo tower at City Hall Monday.

Members are hoping City Council will officially reject a land use change application for the Avli on Atlantic condo building.

The proposed height is 22.5 metres: two and a half metres taller than allowed by current rules in the community.

Bill Bakelaar, the Association’s President, tells City News, it’s just not necessary.

“We have two other developments going on right now which have more units. We’re not looking for relaxations. We have a third one coming immediately to the west of this, providing more units, more parking stalls and all of the necessary relaxations,” he said.

The building’s architect has said reducing the height is out of the question.

The land use change already passed first reading but council still needs to finalize its decision.
