Calgary mayor vows he’s about to “Let it ALL go”

Calgary’s mayor is about to let it all go in order to fulfill a bet he had with Anaheim mayor Tom Tait.

It comes following the Flames elimination in Round 2 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Ducks.

As part of their wager, he’ll have to sing Frozen’s “Let it Go” made famous by Idina Menzel, he’ll have to make a donation to the Accelerate Change Together youth project in California and he’ll have to wear a Ducks jersey to an upcoming council meeting.

He couldn’t wear it Monday because it hadn’t arrived in time, but Naheed Nenshi made it clear to reporters, he has every intention of following through on their bet.

“The one thing I am absolutely terrified of is singing in public, so wish me luck over the next couple of weeks,” said Nenshi.

“The original plan that I had in my head was to bed “Alberta Bound” for “California Dreamin’ “. I thought that kind of made sense and also “California Dreamin’ ” is a very easy song to sing.”

Nenshi did take the opportunity to wear his Flames jersey and thanked the team for some of the most exciting hockey this city has seen in a long time.

He also thanked City officials and the Calgary Police for helping to keep people safe.

No word yet on when we’ll see the mayor’s performance, but if it is “YouTube” worthy like he promises, we’ll make sure to get a copy of it put up here.
