Parents of children at a northeast school are crediting the steady hand of its principal for a significant turnaround among its students.
Darcy Wiebe took the helm of Mayland Heights in 2009, and has used his first-hand knowledge of the area to institute programs which have improved test scores dramatically.
Wiebe grew up in the area of the school, and is well-aware of the language barrier many of the children face as new immigrants to Canada.
The Calgary Herald reports failing provincial test scores have been cut in half since 2009 as a result of Wiebe’s guidance.
