The City of Calgary’s annual Christmas tree recycling program kicks in this Friday, so if you’re putting off the tree tear-down, you risk missing out on easy and responsible disposal.
Philippa Wagner with the City’s waste and recycling services department said you’d better get busy getting the decorations off the tree.
“We’re asking all Calgarians to put their real Christmas trees out on the curb, where they would put their garbage for collection by Friday, January 8th at seven in the morning,” Wagner said. “It’ll run until the end of January, so just leave the tree at the curb where you put it.”
There are eight other collection areas in the city, where you can find here.
Collected trees are shredded and available as free mulch for pickup in the spring.
