Century-old fair won’t run this year

After a century, the Priddis and Millarville Fair is taking the year off.

The Calgary Sun reports financial struggles forced the decision to keep the annual event in the stable.

The fair, which was slated to be held in August, includes things like livestock shows, crop and vegetable judging, and arts and crafts.

The president of the Millarville Racing and Agricultural Society says suspending it this year will allow organizers to look at the fairs future sustainability.

He says the society will also work with participants and allow them to showcase livestock and other interests on an individual basis throughout the year.
