12-year-old boy dies in longboarding accident

A 12-year-old boy has died after crashing his longboard just before noon Tuesday in the southwest.
Police say the boy was skateboarding down a hill on Millrise Blvd with a group of friends when he lost control and hit a fence post.
Duty Inspector Paul Stacey says he suffered a catastrophic neck injury.
Stacey explains a CPS support team is looking after the boy’s mother who came down to the scene as well as emergency personnel who responded.
“Something like this is just so senseless. The little guy is doing everything he should be doing. He’s wearing safety equipment, he’s just having some fun, and something like this happens. It’s just tragic.” Stacey says.
Stacey confirms the boy was wearing a helmet.
