Severe weather not abnormal for July: Meteorologist

Calgary, and most of Alberta, has been under severe weather warnings and advisories throughout July, but it’s nothing out of the ordinary, according to Environment Canada.
So far this month, Calgary has soaked up 103 mm of rain. The average rainfall amount for July is 68 mm.
In June, Calgarians saw 61 mm of rain come down.
Chris Wielki, meteorologist with Environment Canada, says while the amount of precipitation is up, the wet weather is typical for this time of year.
“It’s not unusual for pretty big, slow-moving systems to move through around the time of Stampede,” he said, adding severe weather is also normal. “July is typically the busiest season for thunderstorms. It’s not abnormal to get severe thunderstorms.”
On Saturday, the weather agency issued a rainfall warning for the majority of southern Alberta, with 40-60 mm of rain expected.
Calgary will also see some more rain over the weekend, but the sun is expected to make an appearance on Monday, and stick around for the entire week.
