The next step for Skyservice passengers

Now that Skyservice is no longer operational, what are affected travellers supposed to do?

WestJet’s Robert Palmer tells 660News those customers that have an upcoming trip should contact Skyservice directly to see what their options may be.

He says if travellers paid with a credit card, in many cases the company will be able to refund their money and travel insurance is also recommended at all times.

Palmer adds that WestJet is also stepping in to help passengers stranded in the sunny south to get home.

Details aren’t complete, but if there is a seat available on a WestJet flight coming home, they will be offering it to Skyservice.

But he adds, that Easter is probably the second busiest time of the year and most flights are already close to capacity.

Meanwhile, the Canadian Transportation Agency has issued advice to travellers who have already booked with Skyservice in light of Wednesday’s announcement.

CTA suggests keeping all tickets and receipts for expenses incurred in making alternate travel arrangements, including accommodation and meals.

And if you hold tickets for future travel that were purchased through a registered travel agent or tour operator, contact that agent to make other travel arrangements.
