August has continued where July left off when it comes to the wet weather in Calgary.
#ABStorm was trending Saturday night and Sunday morning as severe thunderstorms moved through the region.
Environment Canada recorded just under 30 mm of rain at the Calgary airport, with a total of 55mm of rain reported already this month.
Lead Meteorologist at Environment Canada, Kyle Fougere, tells 660 NEWS the amount and type of precipitation was different depending where you live in the city.
“The first severe thunderstorms that formed were over the northern part of the city. They got a lot of hail with those storms, they had up to golf ball sized hail reported with that. The west side of the city got several training thunderstorms so they ended up with around 40 mm of rain over the west part of the city,” said Fougere.
A tornado warning was in effect in Airdrie during the worst of the storm and a funnel cloud was produced west of the city, but there were no reports of any touching down.
He added, more rain is on the way for today and is expected to continue into Monday.
If the damp weather has you depressed there is some hope, conditions should improve later in the week.
