Wildrose Leader Brian Jean is lashing out at the Prime Minister, after Justin Trudeau said Friday morning that the oil sands will eventually be phased out.
“It’s just like holding up a sign that says don’t invest in oil and gas in Alberta, which means, no jobs,” Jean said.
Jean said Trudeau’s comments are going to have a negative impact on Alberta’s oil and gas industry.
“I’m so angry at Justin Trudeau interfering in something that’s not in his jurisdiction purview, first of all, but to send signals like this into the marketplace, there will be ramifications,” Jean said.
During a town hall session in Ontario, Trudeau said the oilsands will be eventually phased out and the transition will need to be managed.
But Jean said Trudeau is singling out Alberta oil and not other fossil fuels in Canada or around the world.
