Alberta Health looking to end contract with clinic

Alberta Health wants to end its contract with a Calgary clinic it had to bail out a few months ago.

The province’s health authority stepped in and asked a court to appoint a receiver back in May for the Health Resource Centre, a clinic contracted to perform orthopedic surgeries.

The company running the centre fell into default.

The Calgary Herald reports Alberta Health paid about three million dollars to keep the clinic afloat, because they didn’t want to disrupt the surgery schedule.

The province is looking to end its contract with the clinic once new hospital space comes online at Foothills Hospital late this fall.
