Wildrose out with education policy

The Wildrose Alliance party has released its education policy, using a crowded Airdrie school as a backdrop.

Leader Danielle Smith tells 660News parents in Alberta should be allowed to choose which school their children go to, and the funding should follow the student.

She also said we need to get away from centralized decision making.

“The politicized decision over how to choose schools for construction in new communities are the kind of decisions that we need to find a better way of making. So that we have empowerment of local school boards and local schools, so they’re not left to the whim of political decision making that happens by elected provincial politicians.” said Smith.

The Wildrose Alliance is also calling for a return to local teachers bargaining.
