CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Friends have identified the victims of a fatal house fire in Calgary’s northwest.
Dorsa Dehdari, 22, and her father were found dead inside the home, while the younger sister, Dorna Dehdari, 16, sustained serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.
“She was really good, when one of us were having a bad day she’d help us cope through,” said Sameena Saddiqui, a friend of Dorna.
Saddiqui said she didn’t believe the news when she first heard it.
“I got in contact with some of our friend group and they were like, ‘No, it’s really bad’ and I have a friend who lives up the street from her and she was just there. So we were all just really shocked, I think, at the moment, to figure this out. We couldn’t predict that day that that was going to happen. Like, it was really out of the blue. We had never really seen this coming so we were all really surprised,” said Saddiqui.
Saddiqui said Dorna and Dorsa were very close.
“Her sister was everything, you know they were each other’s rocks.”
Calgary Police were called to the home on Kincora Blvd. just after 2 p.m. on Saturday for reports of an explosion.
Police say the fire was intentionally set and that this was a domestic incident.
Autopsies are scheduled for Monday.
