CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Alberta Health Services (AHS) has ordered a southeast pizza shop in Calgary to close until it can bring in a pest control company.
An AHS inspection report dated Aug. 26, says mouse droppings and urine were found in several spots at the Pop ‘N Pizza, located in the Erin Woods Drive near 52 Street.
The areas where the feces was found include the kitchen area, office area, front counter area and staff washroom.
The report said it found droppings inside a bag of rice and in the flour on the dough preparation counter.
Other problems cited include a “cloudy scum layer” on an open container of feta cheese in the walk-in cooler.
Before the pizza shop can reopen the owner must conduct a thorough cleaning of the establishment, hire a pest control company and discard all infected food.
