Calgary police investigate hate-motivated vandalism

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Calgary police are investigating an act of vandalism they believe to have been a hate-motivated act that targets the Jewish community.

Sometime between the hours of 9 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Apr. 20 and Apr. 21, police say someone wrote “I love Hitler” and other profanity on the ground of a playground parking lot in the area of 384 Woodvale Drive S.W.

April 20 is historically significant in this case as it was celebrated as Hitler’s birthday and was a national holiday during the reign of Nazi Germany.

As a result, police are now investigating the incident as hate-motivated in a manner that is offensive to the Jewish community.

Police are asking to speak with anyone who may have information on the vandalism.
