Calgary hit with heavy thunderstorm following week of blistering warm temps

CALGARY — After a week of nearly unbearable temperatures, Calgary was hit with showers, thunder, lightning, and in some parts of the city, hail.
Environment Canada issuing a severe thunderstorm warning for Calgary on Friday evening.

The storm causing flash floods in parts of the city, with Calgary Police tweeting out road closures due to the high volumes of water.
Please be advised that the intersection of Blackfoot Trail and Ayliffe Road S.E. is closed in all directions due to flash flooding. Please avoid the area if possible. #yyc #yyctraffic #yycroads

Some across the city even documenting large balls of hail that battered their homes.

A heat warning was also put in place for the city.
