The City took in nearly 1,700 submissions from the Calgary School Board, Calgary Catholic School District, private and home schools and selected 78 names for the fleet of trucks that clear snow across the city.
Submissions varied, whether it be after a famous movie character like Snowbegone Kenobi or your favorite singer, Melton John, there will be a wide variety of names plowing Calgary streets this winter.
The City also saw the Indigenous name for Chinook, si’kssopo, along with French and German submissions as well.
Should you see a snow plow, check on the side of equipment for the magnetic decal displaying the name and upload a photo online with #yycplow.
