After just one day, street sweeping in Calgary has been put on hold after the city was hit with a massive, heavy snow dump on Tuesday.
The City says it has reverted to snow and ice operations for the trucks in response to the sudden change in weather. On Wednesday morning, Calgary’s road conditions map showed several snowplows, including newly named members of the fleet Plowy McPlowface and You’re A Blizzard Harry!, out clearing Priority 1 routes.

Calgary street sweeping begins, locals reminded to move cars
For streets that were scheduled to be cleaned Wednesday, the City says updated schedule information will be made available in the next 48 hours.
Once the snow has melted away, Calgarians are reminded to move their vehicles to allow the cleanup to take place.
More than 16,000 lane kilometres of Calgary’s roads are cleaned during the program. In addition to removing vehicles, residents are also reminded to move their green, black, and green carts if sweeping is taking place on collection day.
Typically, the city says parking bans are in place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. Vehicles that remain on a street that’s scheduled for cleaning, with signage up, may be towed.
