You’ll be able to have beer or wine in many city parks this summer, but you might not be allowed to have a smoke or vape in those same parks later this year.
A city committee voted 7-2 Saturday in favour of a move that would ban smoking or vaping in parks, green spaces, and on other pathways.
The bylaw would allow designated smoking areas at events or festivals.
It still needs approval from a full council session.

That debate and vote before a full session of the council will happen in June.
If approved, the no smoking in parks bylaw could take effect August 1.
