Calgary police warn of string of sex assaults

By Todd Kaufman

Calgary police are warning the public about a string of recent sexual assaults in the northwest.

Police believe the same man is responsible for at least four sexual assaults over the last month in the communities of Dalhousie and Ranchlands.

On Sunday, Nov. 6 around 11 p.m., a woman got off a Calgary Transit bus near the intersection of Ranchlands Boulevard and Ranchero Rise and began walking to her home when a man grabbed her from behind and sexually touched her.

Later the same night, at about 11:45 p.m., another woman reported that a man sexually touched her while she was walking on a path near the Dalhousie LRT station.

Nearly two weeks later, on Saturday, Nov. 19 at about 12:45 a.m., a woman was walking east in the 0 to 100 block of Dalton Drive when a man approached her from behind and sexually touched her.

Later the same morning, around 5:30 a.m., police were back at the Dalhousie LRT station where a fourth woman reported that she was waiting for a bus at the LRT bus shelter when a man approached her from behind and sexually touched her.

Police say they are working to release a suspect description.

Anyone with information about these incidents, or the identity of the suspect, is asked to call police at 403-266-1234. You can also leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
