A Calgary woman is expressing frustration after finding the car she had just bought had been damaged by the dealership.
Aiesha Hinds purchased a used vehicle from South Trail Kia in Calgary in August. She took her car to a tire shop, which told her that the dealership had damaged the vehicle.
“I called the dealership. I’m like hey, I don’t have my wheel lock key, and they’re like, well we don’t really check to make sure those are in the vehicle,” she told CityNews.
“‘Who put those lug nuts on your vehicle?’ I’m like ‘the dealership’, ‘they’re the wrong lug nuts’, I sat there like ‘what does this mean’, he says ‘they’re digging into your rims,” she said.
Hinds says she spent months sending emails and calling the dealership, but the problem was still not fixed.
“I wish they would’ve said right from the jump, we are so sorry this happened, we’ll cover your expenses, we’re sorry that we didn’t provide you with a wheel lock instead of breaking it off, you should’ve just gave me with the key, which should’ve been in the car from the jump,” she added.
CityNews reached out to the dealership. Hinds says hours later, they gave her a phone call, saying they were looking at fixing the issue.
“I had (her) send me the invoice for her repairs so that she is not out of pocket for any of her expenses… I have made a call with her personally to make a formal apology on behalf of the dealership,” said the dealership manager.
Hinds says she’s happy things are finally moving with the dealership.
She advises people in the same position to document their communication and be careful who they do their business with.
“Good dealerships will be there for you, ones that kinda just want your business will give you the run around,“ she said.
