Calgary police turn off commenting on some Twitter posts

The Calgary Police Service (CPS) announced Thursday it’s turning off commenting on some of its Twitter posts.

It took to Twitter to spread the word.

“We thank you in advance for working with us, as we strive to create a safe place for you to interact with your police service,” reads the tweet.

CPS adds its social media posts should be a safe place for people to stay informed about what’s happening in the city, where they can also be “heard.”

“However, comments are being made that are offensive and do not align with our core values of respect, compassion, honesty, and integrity. You have told us many times, we hear you, and we agree,” reads the tweet.

Police say the decision comes “in the best interest” of the community, as a result of feedback.
