Minister promotes Alberta energy at Texas conference

Alberta’s energy minister is taking part in the annual CERAWeek energy conference in Houston starting Monday.

Minister of Energy Pete Guthrie will represent the province at the five-day conference featuring politicians, representatives from oil and gas companies, and industry leaders.

Guthrie, in a statement, says it’s an opportunity to show Alberta produces “responsible and reliable energy.”

“Alberta energy is the best choice for allies around the world,” he said. “This conference is a global event that provides a unique opportunity to promote investment and strengthen access to markets. It also provides a chance to showcase Alberta’s leadership in so many areas, including emissions reduction and hydrogen development.”

Guthrie will travel to Houston along with his chief of staff and an official from Alberta Energy.

The minister will fly out Monday. He’s scheduled to attend various sessions and meet with energy partners from Tuesday to Thursday, before returning to Alberta on Friday.
