A large fire that created a toxic plume of smoke in an industrial area of Calgary Tuesday afternoon has been extinguished.
It happened on 15A Street near 36 Avenue SE in Ogden in a temporary white storage tent for an automobile recycling facility.
Calgary Fire Department spokesperson Carol Henke says calls came in from multiple people around 2 p.m.
She tells CityNews close to 20 people made it out of the compound safely, adding no injuries have been reported.

“There are some hotspots that fire crews are managing. Fire crews kept it from spreading to any neighbouring buildings, which was great,” Henke explained.
“It was upgraded to a second alarm just due to the volume of smoke and fire that was visible when fire crews arrived on scene.”
