Sunridge Mall stabbing leaves 1 hurt: Calgary police

Calgary police say one person is hurt after a very public, violent incident in the city’s northeast Friday.

According to investigators, officers received reports of a stabbing at Sunridge Mall around 1 p.m.

“At this time, it is believed that an altercation occurred between two groups of people, resulting in one male being stabbed,” police said in statement.

While police say the victim was taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition, EMS has said the person was stable, though they suffered serious injuries.

Officers are still looking “for the suspects,” with no arrests announced.

Friday’s mall stabbing is just the latest incident amid a string of violence in Calgary, with a shooting on a bus, a stabbing on another bus, and a deadly grocery store parking lot shooting reported earlier in the week.
