A free concert featuring Darius Rucker is coming to Calgary on June 1 at the Saddledome.
The show headlined by the former lead singer of Hootie & The Blowfish is a “celebration” of the Rogers-Shaw merger on April 3.
Calgary’s own Lindsay Ell is hosting the show, with sibling duo The Reklaws and independent Canadian country artist Kyle McKearney as the opening acts for Rucker, who transitioned to country music in 2008.
Rogers and Shaw customers will be sent invites by email, which will include a code for a pair of tickets from Ticketmaster.
In addition, Rogers will be donating $10 to Big Brothers Big Sisters for every ticket scanned at the event.
Those who aren’t customers can try to win tickets by tuning into 95.9 Star, Jack 96.9, CityNews 660, and Sportsnet 960 The Fan.
More information about the event, along with how to win tickets ahead of the free show, can be found online.
In an exclusive interview, Star 95.9’s Billie Jo Ross spoke with Rucker about his new single “Fires Don’t Start Themselves,” his move to country music, and the upcoming concert.
