Pedestrian in hospital after being struck by truck: Calgary police

A 26-year-old man is in hospital with serious injuries following a collision with a truck on Wednesday evening, Calgary police say.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of John Laurie Boulevard and Crowfoot Gate NW.

Officers believe a 2019 Ram 1500, driven by a 56-year-old man, was leaving the parking lot of Melcor YMCA at 8100 John Laurie Boulevard.

According to investigators, as the truck turned east onto John Laurie, it struck the man.

Meanwhile, officers say the pedestrian may have been under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

It’s unclear if the driver suffered any other injuries.
