Motorcyclist dies after being thrown off bike in SW Calgary

A motorcyclist is dead following a crash in southwest Calgary Thursday.
Calgary police initially told CityNews the victim drove off the overpass on 9 Avenue and landed on 14 Street at around 7:30 p.m., but they later said he was thrown off the bike after hitting a railing and falling onto the roadway below.
From that time onwards, 14 Street was closed in both directions at 9 Avenue.
EMS were also on the scene.
UPDATE: Both directions of 14th St are now closed.

No other injuries have been reported.
The roads opened up at around 12 a.m. Friday.

Officers asked drivers to avoid the whole area around the 9 Avenue overpass at 14 Street while they investigated.
