A Calgary man is facing dozens of charges in connection to 25 break-and-enters in Calgary, Lethbridge, and several rural communities.
The RCMP’s Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit (CRU), the Calgary Police Service, and Lethbridge Police Service say they first became involved in the case in early June when the suspect broke into a business in Diamond Valley.
Investigators explain that the individual drove an electric scooter to all locations, where he would use an angle grinder or concrete saw to gain access to an ATM.
Authorities say the suspect is thought to have stolen more than $15,000 during all the break-ins.
On July 14, the individual was caught in Calgary during a break-and-enter at a business on 16 Avenue NW.
David Letourneau-Janveaux, 30, of Calgary, has been charged with 70 offences, some of which include: break and enter to commit theft, break and enter to commit mischief, mischief over $5,000, theft over $5,000, possession of break-in instruments, unauthorized possession in a motor vehicle, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a firearm knowing it’s possession was unauthorized, and unauthorized transport of a firearm.
After a hearing, the man was taken into custody.
His next court appearance is in Calgary on Aug. 16.
