Body pulled from Calgary Bow River near zoo bridge

A body has been pulled from the Bow River near the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo bridge Friday.
The Calgary Fire Department (CFD) says they responded just before 4 p.m. to the area.
“It’s quite well known for people that fish and that sort of thing there. So that’s where the individual was discovered,” said the CFD battalion chief.
He says someone on the bridge saw the body and called 9-1-1.
“We were not sure if it was a rescue or recovery. And it was determined fairly quickly that it was a recovery, that the body had been in the water for quite some time,” the chief explained.
The victim’s identity and cause of death have not been determined pending the results of an autopsy.
The CFD says his identity will go through the missing person’s list through Calgary police, and then the next steps would be contacting next of kin and family members.
