A break-in and shooting incident in the Abbeydale community of Calgary’s northeast leaves two adults injured. Silvia Naranjo reports

Masked armed suspects assaulted two amid a break-and-enter in a home with children in northeast Abbeydale Saturday, Calgary police say.

It happened right after 4 a.m. on Nov. 11, when officers say three or four suspects wearing masks and carrying handguns broke into a home on the block on Abbotsford Drive, Abadan Crescent, and 68 Street. The home was occupied by five adults and two children.

Investigators believe the suspects demanded money and other items, on top of assaulting two in the home, before fleeing.

Once they got outside, multiple gunshots were fired as they continued leaving, striking neighbouring homes.

The two adults suffered “significant” injuries that required treatment in hospital, while the other adults and children were not injured.

Officers believe some of the suspects left the scene on foot, while the rest left in a red truck.

Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call them at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
