QEII reopens north of Calgary following semi-truck fire

The QEII highway north of Calgary has reopened after a semi-truck caught fire on Friday afternoon.
Didsbury RCMP say officers responded to reports of a tractor-trailer on fire on the highway at Township Road 294.
Police say the driver was able to detach his load before crews showed up and put out the fire.

The tractor unit was destroyed in the blaze but no injuries were reported.
The northbound lanes of the QEII were closed around 12:15 p.m. but the highway fully reopened around 1:40 p.m.
