Motorcyclist in 20s critically hurt after crash involving car in NW Calgary

A motorcycle and a car collided in a northwest Calgary intersection Monday morning, sending one person to hospital in critical condition.
Calgary police tell CityNews the collision happened at 7:30 a.m. at 14 Street and 64 Avenue NW.
Investigators say a 2006 Honda CBR600 was travelling southbound on 14 Street when a 2003 Toyota Corolla that was in the northbound left turn lane entered the intersection at the same time.
The motorcyclist tried to brake and ended up sliding into the Toyota.
The motorcycle rider, a 24-year-old man, was rushed to hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Corolla, an 84-year-old woman, stayed on scene and was not injured.
Police do not believe speed or impairment were a factor in the crash.
Motorists say there were traffic disruptions in the area for some time, as roads were closed between North Haven Drive and Berkshire Boulevard NW. Roads in the area reopened around 12:30 p.m.
