Wheel flies off trailer, smashes windshield of car on Stoney Trail

It was a close call for one driver on a Calgary highway on Friday afternoon after a wheel flew off a trailer and struck a car windshield.

Emergency crews were called to westbound Stoney Trail approaching Deerfoot Trail NE around 1:20 p.m. for reports of a crash.

Calgary police tell CityNews a wheel came off a trailer that was being towed by a truck and smashed the windshield of another car.

No injuries were reported.

Police are investigating what led to the wheel coming loose.
