Bomb threats temporarily halted ground operations at six airports across the country on Thursday, NAV Canada says.
“Early this morning, NAV CANADA was made aware of bomb threats affecting facilities in Ottawa, Montreal, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Calgary and Vancouver,” the agency said in a post on X.
It added a ground stop was put in place at the airports and that all employees are safe.
“We are collaborating with authorities to address the situation and ensure the safety of all personnel and passengers.”
YYC International Airport confirmed the security incident to 660 NewsRadio, saying it had “minimal” impact on regular operations at the airport.
In a statement sent to airports by Nav Canada, the agency says a thorough threat assessment has been conducted with authorities, and service is gradually resuming at all affected sites.
Travellers are advised to check directly with their airline for the latest updates, as delays are expected.
